Header Image: Season 42 Essence 2 Promotional artwork
While I hope to learn more about the artists who provide us so much eye candy when it comes to the artwork we get in this game, it takes some time to find them (though thanks to idvlogic on Twitter, that task has become way easier).
But I had to highlight this one particular artist, CHA_CUBE, as they have given us tons and tons of the artwork we see for the game including essences and log-in screens.
The latest one they have drawn up as you can see is the promotional artwork for Season 42’s Essence 2. However, they have also done other works quite recently as well as provide their expertise for the past few years too. Here are some of my favorites:
Anniversary Essence aka Season 41 Essence 3 Log-in Screen

COA IX Log-in Screen

Considering the fact that we all probably saw the COA IX log-in screen for 4 straight months, I decided to put up a picture of their design process for it. I would recommend checking them out in the links below because they tend to put up their thought process and initial sketches of every piece they work on.
Season 37 Essence 1

Season 24 Essence 1

Promotional art for COA VI

xxxHolic Crossover Promotional Poster

They sometimes also draw for crossovers as well. Another one crossover they have been commissioned to work on was for Bungo Stray Dogs.
Select Deduction Star Posters

They admitted on their twitter that they really only worked on the sketch phase for some Deduction Star posters. It then makes me wonder who the artist is that fully renders them out then.
Other posters promoting cosmetics in the game

This one is of Composer’s S-tier, Phantom Sail, which is tied to the Truth and Inference universe. This one is particularly special as CHA_CUBE actually put up a timelapse video of their design process for this poster on their YouTube channel a couple years ago.
It is unlisted but you can find it through their Twitter account. I can also link it below and hope that it works as I have never linked an unlisted video before.
But this is only a select few artworks they have done for Identity V and it looks as if they’re still going strong. According to them, the process to create these artworks can take from 3 weeks to a month. For Edgar’s recent S-tier essence, they responded to a comment asking how long it took them to finish this piece and the answer was a month.
Very impressive and honestly awe-inspiring. They are part of the reason we even get so many beautiful pieces that should continue to be highlighted about what makes this game a feast for creatives.
I hope that CHA_CUBE continues to contribute to the IDV scene for many years to come if they’re able to.
