I played through the Dreamweaver event so you don’t have to. This article is really for those who don’t want to log into the game but still are curious about the event story similar to the anniversary article I wrote a couple months ago.

The interface for the event. There is a Check In and Minigame portion towards the event as well.
Although, this was a rather short event. It is centered on “Orpheus” who is known as the “Gentleman Dreamer” who has found himself in a dream with three rabbits who weave dreams for children.

The event rewards include an A-costume for Novelist, exclusive emotes for Novelist and The Breaking Wheel, two graffitis, and a portrait. The daily check in also grants players a sticker of Novelist and a portrait frame among other little goodies.

The livestream broadcasted yesterday also revealed that players will receive the S-costume, “Dreamweaver Rabbit,” for The Breaking Wheel for free by logging in for 7 days between June 18th and July 16th
As for the event story, it’s split into two parts: a child’s diary and the story between “Orpheus” and the rabbits.
I will only summarize the diary entries as they felt more focused on the story between “Orpheus” and the dreamweaving rabbits. However, I will quickly give you a rundown of what happens between them in the dream our dear novelist finds himself in.
“Orpheus” in Wonderland

I must admit his little sprite is quite adorable here.
“Orpheus” awakens in a dream and notes that whenever he leaves the dream, he always experiences a sharp loss of memory. Every time he awakes, the fantasies of his dreams fade away faster and faster from his perception.
“What fragments remain felt like I fell through something like a rabbit hole into an unknown realm, a garden. Its spatial scruture matches the description of the ‘wonderland’ in Lewis Carrolll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland.'”
He mentions he encountered some Dreamwaver Rabbits and sees them working on a grand project of some kind. Determined to solve the mystery of his fragmented memories, he believes they can help him. “Orpheus” concludes his log by saying he can’t remember anything anymore.
Thankfully, he quickly finds the dreamweaver rabbits again, Lop, White, and Gray, hard at work. Unfortunately, the rabbits are very wary of “Orpheus” and spurn any questions he asks them. He would persist, however, and manage to learn a bit more about the rabbits and what they do. One of the rabbits, Lop, is very fatigued from spinning dreams as sewing the wild ideas and imaginations of children is difficult work. Yet, it is better than the nightmares that can be formed if they stop. And yes, the dreams they make for children are from their wishes through their diaries, wishes found hidden away in drawers and between books and more. As long as the wishes stay hidden, they would be granted through dreams.
The rabbits weren’t always dreamweavers. They used to perform long long ago, but they found that beyond the fame and glory of performing, the rabbits found that it is more priceless to deliver the wishes of children as the creativity and emotions carried in each wish touched them greatly.
As “Orpheus” learns all of this, he finds a diary of a child. After he reads through it, he recognizes the handwriting as his own and its revealed that he had a wish that took 10 years to achieve through the dream with the rabbits.
But what was child “Orpheus” like? Let’s take a look at him through his own words from 10 years ago.
Diary of A Child I
The child writes about the loss of his grandmother who used to knit them sweaters. While the child mourns the loss of his grandmother, they still retain fond memories of her lost in dreams. Such as one where she knits a new sweater and a rainbow scarf that extends into the sky as a bridge. The child’s grandmother led them across the bridge to let the child dig for candy. Even after the dream is over, the child remains happy saying he will still miss his grandmother always.
Diary of a Child II
The child describes how they were counting sheep one night when they noticed that one of the sheep was pink and wearing overalls. It turns out this was one of the rabbits who leads them to a castle in the sky. There, over some star-shaped cookies and tea, the child learns that the rabbits weave all of the fun things kids think about during the day and turn them into dreams. Just as they were about to weave an ice cream big enough to fill the ocean, his mother wakes him up.
Diary of a Child III
The child tells his diary about a letter they wrote to a Sprite who lives in the old oak tree near his house. When he dreams of a toad in a silver waistcoat as he was picking chestnuts in the forest, the child followed it to a door he believed led to the Sprite’s home. He could hear the Sprite tinkering away there as if crafting jewelry for a winter ball and felt compelled to leave behind a glass marble.
The child appreciates the Sprite because it encouraged the child’s dream to be a writer when his mother wasn’t as supportive.
The child also mentioned leaving milk for the Sprite on the windowsill.
Diary of a Child IV
The child dreams of a opera house in Vienna where a robin with a beautiful singing voice lived. This robin found a tear in the curtain which led to the opera house following out of favor with patrons making the operas performed there all dull and gray. The robin decides to fix this by taking off its sparkling crown to sew it over the hole with golden thread. It also plucked out its shiniest feathers and weaved them one by one into the patch. Sadly, the robin could no longer show itself and people soon forget about it but not the child who says the little bird is a hero who helped bring color to every new opera performed at the opera house.
The robin had told the child something else, but the child could no longer remember.
Diary of a Child V

The list of wishes written down by the child.
The child lists out wishes for himself and turns it into a paper airplane to throw into the chimney to stay hidden. They also leave behind a piece of honeycomb on the windowsill, presumably for the Sprite. The child also worries if his dad finds out that “he’ll probably kick my butt really hard!” This led him to making one final wish of his dad never finding out about this.
Childhood Diary
The child wanted to create a story similar to Alice in Wonderland after finding a book on the story. Except he doesn’t want to write it with just one rabbit, but three. These three rabbits would weave something on their huge spinning wheel. What were they doing? What were they creating? And what for? The child didn’t quite know yet, but they only knew that it was something grand and splendid. Feeling too tired to figuring it out at the time, he decides to find a quill and place it under his pillow hoping to dream of it.

What’s interesting about this event is learning a bit more about the man through his childhood diary. Whether or not this event is telling us canonical facts about “Orpheus” or parallels his reality in the main story isn’t clear but I also see no reason why everything we read about him in this event would be 100% made up.
While the event was whether short, it was particularly nice and an easy read. Though if you’re a Breaking Wheel fan, who were the rabbits in this event, they got less focus than “Orpheus,” but they had their moments as well.
Interestingly, the dream about the opera house reminded me of Sangria (Opera Singer), who is tied to the Will Brothers in the fact that they are in the same game together. The mention of Vienna is also relevant in that Sangria’s benefactor and subject of her infatuation, Nicholas Orsonville, was in Vienna for a time and met Frederick (Composer) when she went to watch one of his performances.
Anyways, what this all means is anyone’s guess but this is just an AU story event for China’s Children’s Day. I think it was more or less just an event to highlight “Orpheus” in a different light. I liked it well enough and appreciated that I learned a bit more about “Orpheus” who is still quite the enigma to me.
Stay tuned for whatever the next story event will be because I plan to cover that as well! Global anniversary is coming up soon and thus, we will be getting another story set in the Truth and Inference universe with Lady Truth this time around. I’m looking forward to it!
